AN OLD WOMAN SPEAKS and who cares what I think.

From one old woman to everyone else:

(and how the hell did I get to be an OLD woman?
I was a hot young thing....once......but I digress)

I've been reading more and more blogs where people are either asking about their first gun, planning to get their CCL, or saying that all guns should be banned.  (This would only apply to LEGALLY registered guns.  So the outcome would not lessen crime, but encourage it)

Given a shoot-out, a wrestling of crowbars and bricks, you and I would be out of our league. The person planning the attack has the advantage. They KNOW what they are going to do, and when.

We will ALWAYS be taken by surprise no matter how armed we are.

Carrying a gun is about more than having a 9mm somewhere on your body. It starts with being ALERT. The feeling that makes your skin crawl. INSTINCT is our only alarm and we need to be in tune with our surroundings.

I don't know just when things took such a wicked turn, but I think it happened when we were brainwashed with the words:  "politically correct" and "You're not prejudiced, are you?"

My blog has been discussing some bazaar situations I've found myself in lately, and the momentum is picking up speed.

If ALL good people carried guns with the proper training under their belts, it would increase our odds, but not lessen the dangers. INCREASE YOUR ODDS. This is not paranoia. The danger already exists.

The pendulum has swung too far to be corrected.  It must finish its swing, and it isn't at it's full pinnacle YET.

At some point, there will be carnage.  We are being out-bred and out-voted by the ones we are feeding and allowing to breed.

They don't bother being politically correct or socially acceptable, and being prejudiced is their right.

This is NOT a hate blog.  This is NOT a blog based on prior discriminatory feelings.  I had none to begin with, until my boss flew over his desk in a fit of rage.  Me being his target.  He had no self-control.  I began by hating HIM.  Everything begins with a 'first'.

Now I'm surrounded by people with his attitude, his lack of self-control or any sense of decency.

I guess, due to situations beyond my control, I'm now a bigot.

This used to be a humor blog for humor's sake.  Lately it's been turning into a soapbox and I have never liked soapbox blogs.

I am MERELY in a position to say what I see and I see a bad moon rising.

Contrary to popular belief, I'm beginning to think there will be no good way to reach the other side of the pendulum.  We can store our food, stock our ammo, tell ourselves we are prepared and will be self-sufficient, but I believe we are whistling in the dark.

We will  merely be bunnies hiding in our burrows, and bunnies always lose in the end.

We were not programmed from birth to fight, and fight dirty.  We were not programmed to enjoy it.  Our parents did not have the mindset to raise us around drugs, guns, and knock-down fights between family members.  We were raised being taught good manners, and to avoid calling attention to ourselves.

And I'm finding myself in public positions that were unimaginable in prior years.

And because we're out-numbered, and out-voted, we scurry away with our butt cheeks clenched and our eyes averted.

I think we make perfect targets.

  1. I agree, but feel assured we'll do great damage on the way down.

    1. But we will be doing it ON THE WAY DOWN. My point exactly.

  2. What scares me the most is my children are heading out into this world. They'll either be forced to live in or forced to fix the mess "we" have created. I'm thinkin' Costa Rica is looking better and better.

    1. There's no fixing. I'm so glad I don't have school aged children and I'm glad that I'm far from being school aged myself. The only thing of any interest when I was in school was the cool kids drank beer. wooo

  4. As much as I dislike everything you have said, I am inclined to agree with all of it. There are no good answers here.

  5. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to agree with you, not that I dislike being agreeable, just that I hate to agree with what you said... but it's the truth.

    1. I didn't like saying it! In fact, I've kept it under "Drafts" for quite a while, until the last two situations that were shoved in my face. There was NOTHING that could be done about it, and that's the part that is growing out of control and getting a lot of people paranoid. Both are equally scary.

    1. Are you referring to my FIRST EDITION COLT .357, that was only made between 1998 and 1999....the one that needs a specially designed holster due to it's larger size? Hmmmmm?

      That one?

  7. Lotta Joy,

I agree with your post, so many don't have their eyes wide open on the issues in front of them.

Yes, "The pendulum has swung too far to be corrected. It must finish its swing, and it isn't at it's full pinnacle YET".

    1. Yes. And before everyone exits my blog thinking I'm racially prejudiced, let me say that I'm prejudiced against ANY race that acts like I described. It just happens to be mostly one race that is flaunting it.

  8. Of course, you are correct. The only thing to remember is that you are not really a bigot. When you see a white man poorly groomed, whose eyes dart to your purse, you are just as uncomfortable as you are with a poorly groomed black man who does the same. An attempt has been made to try to re-program us to believe that anytime we identify a problem with a black person, that this is prejudice, it's not. I give blacks and whites the same opportunities. Either race is likely to be shot if they break into my home while I am here. I think you are likely the same.

    1. Like I said above, I can't tolerate the aggressive and blatant disregard for acceptable behavior. Even if it's acceptable IN THEIR HOME, there's such a thing as adjusting your behavior to fit your surroundings.

Walmart seems to be the perfect place to see TRASH IN ACTION and whether it's black, or white, it still violates MY space.

  10. "This is not paranoia, The danger already exists" Amen my Friend you are 100% right.

As for being a hate or humor blog all depends on the subject matter for the day, I don't see anything you have ever written that would qualify it as a hate blog, good old honest opinions is what it is all about and if that entails getting up on a soapbox then so be it, I myself have one over at my place too :)

    1. Thank you Jimmy. I've had several regular readers get so upset over finding my writing to be anti-american and prejudicial, they huffed out in a rage and emailed me with much condemnation.

Which is why it's impossible to get 'nice' people to produce a united front against atrocious and unacceptable behavior.

ESPECIALLY SINCE, NO WHERE IN MY POST DID I MENTION COLOR. So I guess the assumptions were in their minds already.

OR: and this is most revealing - my non color descriptions were AUTOMATICALLY recognized to be coming from one particular race. hmmmmmmmmm

  11. Sadly, I have to say that I believe you are right on all counts, Lotta Joy. The world is not as it once was or as we wish it to be, and we can hide behind our rose colored glasses or prepare ourselves as best we can to cope with what has changed. This was a strong and honest post. I appreciate your comments on my blog post about this too. Thank you!

    1. It could have been handled differently but, at the time, we were in the beginning stages of being brainwashed.

The ones who were totally against equality were considered ignorant and prejudiced (and they were).

But the pendulum swung out of control in the other direction and way past "equal".

  12. I see nothing wrong with being politically correct. But, some people use pretended pc to forward their own agendas.

I mentioned on a yahoo group that I wondered why only Hispanics used the water stations where you fill a 5-gallon jug of water and can refill it. I was slammed from dozens of people who labeled me a racist for targetting Hispanics.

No one was targeted. I just wondered if they lived in hovels with no water. I was sort of concerned for them, seeing I am a bleeding heart liberal. But, all anyone could see was the word "Hispanice" on their monitor.

No insults were flung. I just identified the person I saw. I did not generalize to the whole group.

    People can be idiots.

I was a fully grown adult in the mid 60s and remember all the things forecast for our future by those who hated. NOT ONE THING was true. I have been extremely alarmed by the prospective future some people have forecast. I fell for it. Now, I feel that very little of what is forecast now will happen. However, this is one liberal who is very concerned with the prospect of gun ownership being a right we lose. I am a complicated liberal.

One of my very young friends has autism, has high functioning level, and will not work because she does not have to. She drives, lives alone, and feels she cannot be forced to work. Her job in life is to spend her money buying a new purse every week because she can. "I cannot work anywhere because I have autism." I am just as upset with this lazy, good for nothing, white person as I would be with any group that anyone rants about.

She equates her ssdi with mine. However, I am 66, 100% disabled, educated and have worked. After surgery I aspire to work again, mow the yard, and continue to help others. She lies about having no money to get me to open my wallet or drive her, free of charge (no gas money) everywhere she wants to go.

She is not of the demographic of which you speak. Yet, she will use all the tactics anyone else will.

She is entitled to be violent toward me because she cannot help it. (She can even though that is a tendency of frustrated persons with autism. Guess who never gets in my car anymore or comes in my house. She is entitled to lie. Now, I figured out she steals and is totally good with doing wrong. I see her. When Walmart catches her, she will cry "autism" and get away with it. "Autism" could be any other label.

Sorry about the rant, but you got me started...lol.

    1. Practical Parsimony: I live in El Paso...87% Hispanic. I asked one of my Hispanic neighbors why she bought 5 gallon jugs of water rather than using what comes out of the tap.
Her answer: She does not trust the water coming out of the tap! She lived in Mexico as a child (she is a legal immigrant, btw) and one of her younger siblings died from a water borne disease, even though her family was *middle class* and they lived in an area that had supposedly *safe* water and indoor plumbing. She also told me that many of her friends and family also buy their drinking water...as well as water for bathing their children, as they do not trust tap water, either.

    1. I could live quite easily, looking in the opposite direction IF we were still living in Indiana. We moved to a very rural/country area of Florida.

But, If we lived near Tampa, I honestly don't think we'd leave home after dark.

So, like fungus, it is spreading outward and coming to a neighborhood near you.

  15. Right then, I'm not going to get into any sort of discussion on this one. I live in a different place and thankfully, we don't have these problems and I feel safe walking the streets at night.

So, let's just say this. You are not old. In fact, I'm only a little bit younger than you and I certainly wouldn't consider myself old. So enough of the old crap.

And, I did agree with your post and attitude.

  17. I love this. I actually don't own many guns, but it's just because I don't have the money to get a few more. I just can't understand how people think we are just going to talk our way out of a violent situation. I would never want to use my gun to defend myself, but I hopefully will be alert enough to do so and have it close enough that I can if the need arises.

I don't see that things are going to change. Society is sinking down and things will only get worse. There may be a few places where it gets better, but as a whole, I don't expect improvement.
